Australian Police received emergency powers due to Covid-19

In Australia, Sydney City (New South Wales) 80 percent of citizens are sitting on homes due to tough restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is reported by the newspaper Daily Mail.

6.6 million people are in isolation. Australia’s authorities in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus gave the emergency police powers to ensure strict locked.

The police of the new South Wales with their team of lawyers discusses the amendments to the laws that will make measures against the violators of the isolation rules. They intend to eliminate loopholes in the laws, thanks to which Australians can visit their beach summer houses. Also, the agency wants to tighten the rules of visiting for living alone. Police will access information about all violators.

The situation complicates the conflict between the Ministry of Health and the law enforcement officers. Police Commissioner Mick Fuller and Police Minister David Elliott said that government orders are difficult to fulfill due to confrontations between police officers and health officials. Some medical officials refuse to provide police data on violations, because “sympathize” to violators.

Earlier in the Australian city of Melbourne, Victoria, the authorities introduced strict restrictions for citizens due to eight cases of COVID-19 disease. In the second largest state of Australia, Lokdun is introduced for the sixth time. The city records “mysterious” cases of infections from an unknown source of coronavirus.
