UN “Extremely concerned” what is happening in Afghanistan

The United Nations (UN) “is extremely concerned about” intense atmosphere in Afghanistan. This was stated by the official representative of the Secretary General of the Office Stephen Duzharrik, reports TASS.

He noted that the UN is watching what is happening in the country and continues to contact the Afghan parties to come to a logical political decision.

In conclusion, he said that all civilians suffer from conflict in the country: fighting in rural areas. To “focus” on solving the issue, the parties need to take into account all similar facts, the representative of the General Secretary of the Organization explained.

Earlier, the political scientist Nikita Mendkovich called the deadlines for the end of the war in Afghanistan with the Radical Movement of the Taliban (prohibited in the Russian Federation). In his opinion, the conflict may result in this year.

The UN also said that in recent days, at least 27 minors were killed in Afghanistan due to conflict, about 136 civilians were injured. Over the past month, more than a thousand civilians were killed from the fights of militants with government forces.

In July, after the withdrawal of the main contingent of US troops and NATO countries, the Taliban forces began to attack the position of the government army in Afghanistan. Currently, the Afghan government continues to lose control over the country. It is already known that radicals controlled about 65 percent of the entire territory of the state.
