Another country decided to exhaust themselves from Belarus with a barbed wire fence. The Government of Latvia approved the construction of a fence worth 1.7 million euros. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
Cabinet approved the allocation of funding for the construction of infrastructure to protect the Eastern Border of Latvia and prevent illegal migration.
“In 2021, it is planned to purchase and install a barbed wire fence. For these purposes, an additionally necessary financing amount of 1,729,421 euros is predicted,” reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In general, according to the calculations of the Ministry, for the construction of a cross-border infrastructure in 2022, about 14 million euros will additionally need, in 2023 – almost 19 million euros, and in 2024 – over 6 million euros.
Latvia’s authorities from August 11 to November 10 introduced an emergency regime in the areas border with Belarus due to the influx of illegal migrants. Prime Minister Krisyanis Karinsh said that Minsk uses refugees as a revenge by the European Union for the sanctions.
Earlier with an increase in the flow of migrants from the territory of Belarus, Lithuania collided. She also decided to build a tribe on the border with barbed wire, alarm and video cameras.
In May, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, against the background of the next exacerbation of relations with the West, threatened to weaken control abroad. “We stopped drugs and migrants, now you will have themselves and catch them,” he promised.
