The Russian T-90C has become one of the most successful export defense products of Russia and, perhaps, remains the most commercially successful export tank of his time, recognizes the American magazine The National Interest.
“Tank, which subsequently became T-90, was conceived as a deep modernization of the T-72, called T-72BU. This tank was immediately renamed to the T-90 – a marketing decision designed to emphasize the depth of its modernization – and adopted on Armament in 1992, “- notes the publication.
Magazine reminds that the base T-90 has a mass of 48 tons, equipped with in-84ms engines, develops speed up to 60 kilometers per hour and is able to pass up to 550 kilometers. The main differences between the T-90 from T-72 in the publication are welded composite armor, protecting the tower zone, the system of built-in dynamic protection “Contact 5” and a complex of electron-optical active protection “Curtain 1”.
The publication notes that the T-90 chassis resembles T-72, and by armament – T-80. In particular, the T-90 is equipped with a 125-millimeter smooth-bore cannon 2A46M, anti-tank controlled 9M119M “reflex” missiles and a 12.7-millimeter machine gun NSV-12.7 “Rock”.
“Many of these characteristics have changed significantly in the following decades with the emergence of numerous versions of the tank, to a considerable degree caused by a steady flow of foreign demand,” writes The National Interest.
In June, T-90s called the most commercially successful major battle tank in the world.
In May, the National Interest magazine listed the four most powerful tank in the world: German Leopard 2 A7 +, American M1 Abrams, South Korean K2 Black Panther and Russian T-14 “Armat”.
