Existence of an artificial living organism was recognized as possible

Scientists of the US Planetological Institute recognized the existence of living beings on the basis of cybernetic systems that have relevant properties. This is reported in the article published in the log of Origins of Life and Evolution of BioSpheres.

researchers have shown that the order that is present in biological systems has a computational basis. Thus, distributed systems based on blockchas have properties that also have live organisms.

Experts conducted monitoring of a distributed virtual machine (DVM) based on a blockchain, consisting of thousands of nodes or computers, combined as a global universal computer that cannot be turned off. It turned out that such DVMs have characteristics associated with biological systems, including a number of functional and structural similarities between blockchain and DNA.

The blockchain is a data structure consisting of units, called blocks that are constantly “connected” with each other. In practice, this is an immutable medium (since blocks can only be added), containing instructions in the form of a computer code and replicating for thousands of nodes, which is very similar to nucleic molecules in cells.

The blockchain-based systems correspond to some criteria for living organisms, such as the surrounding reaction, growth, replication and self-regulation. In addition, researchers presented a conceptual model of a simple self-organizing and self-sufficient distributed “body” as a functionally closed system that will comply with all definitions of life, as well as developing technologies, in particular, artificial intelligence based on neural networks. The publicly available virtual machines based on blockchas can provide an unlimited environment for the development of general artificial intelligence capable of independently manage their own development.
