Iran temporarily stopped trading with Afghanistan because of the bombings of the US Air Force and the attacks of the militants of the Taliban radical movement (prohibited in Russia). This was stated by the head of the Iranian-Afghan Chamber of Commerce Hosaine Salimi in an interview with ILNA.
Now Tehran has completely stopped trading and closed the borders. Salimi could not answer the question about when trade will resume.
According to him, now trading risks are very high, and Iranian sellers are not ready to take them on themselves. “It is not clear whether the freight of the recipient will reach or not when he goes to Afghanistan. And these loads are not insured …” – explained politics.
On August 6, the Iranian authorities closed the PPC “Milak” on the border with Afghanistan.
The situation in the country aggravated in July, after the withdrawal of the main contingent of the American troops. Before that, in the spring, the Taliban began to actively attack the Afghan military and civilians, and soon an offensive in the position of government forces. Currently, the Afghan government, despite the active support of the US Air Force, which causes impacts on the positions of extremists, continues to lose control over the country.
