Latvia: called for an emergency mode of emergency on border with Belorussia

Latvian’s Interior Minister Maria Golubev called on the government of the country to introduce emergency regime (emergency) at the Belarusian-Latvian border in connection with the influx of illegal migrants. This was reported in the Power Office of the Republic, writes Delfi.

It is planned that in the case of the introduction of the emergency, border guards in the Augsdaugava and Kraslavsky region will receive new powers, which will allow you to delay and return illegal people back to Belarus.

In the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that over the past three days, the Belarusian-Latvian border has crossed 160 illegal immigrants. At the same time, the State Border Guard works in high availability.

Previously, the Deputy of the Seimas of Latvia Janis Dombourva proposed to allow border guards to use firearms in the event of an illegal crossing of the borders of migrants by Belarus. In his opinion, it can prevent the aggravation of the migration crisis in the country.

On August 2, the Lithuanian State Border Protection Service reported the capture of a record number of illegal migrants who arrived from the Belarusian territory. According to border guards, 289 such illegal immigals were detained during the day. Most of them introduced themselves as citizens of Iraq. The mode of extreme situation due to the influx of illegal immigrants Lithuania has introduced back in July.
