Latvian defended his right to speak at work in Russian

In the UK, Latvian defended the right to speak at his own language in court. This is reported by Metro.

It is reported that earlier the British manufacturer of nuts and dried fruits Humdinger Limited dismissed his employee Albina Sokolov for talked in Russian with their colleagues at the factory. Despite the fact that the worker has a bad English language, the employer ordered it to contact other employees during working hours solely on it.

In addition, she was also denied the translator services during meetings with the bosses.

The British Court found that the language policy established at the production was “necessary.” At the same time, he called the “unjustified” requirement of the use of exclusively English language during the consideration of disciplinary issues and complaints from the authorities.

The court recognized the dismissal of Sokolova unfair and ordered Humdinger Limited to pay 10.8 thousand pounds (more than 1.1 million rubles) in the compensation for insulting feelings and indirect racial discrimination.

Earlier, President of Latvia Egils Levves called the Russian language with the recovery of the occupation, whose distribution “need to put an end.” He stated that most Latvians face discrimination in the labor market due to the ignorance of Russian, and predicted his displacement in the country of the English language.
