US Secretary of State urged to exclude use of nuclear weapons

On the day of the 76th anniversary of a nuclear strike, inflicted by the US Armed Forces in the Japanese city of Nagasaki in 1945, the American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on the world community to exclude the reuse of nuclear weapons. The diplomat spoke on his page in twitter .

“We remember about the terrible power of nuclear weapons – the enormous losses of lives and destruction that they can bring – and confirm the responsibility of the United States and all countries in ensuring that such weapons are never applied again,” Blinken said.

Previously, with similar calls, the descendants of Nagasaki atomic bombing were made. The mayor of Tomihas Taue (Tomihisa Taue) stressed that the United States and Russia should do everything possible to eliminate the reserves of atomic weapons. He also asked Tokyo to increase funding for medical and social assistance programs to nuclear strike victims.

Nagasaka’s nuclear strike was inflicted on August 9, 1945, three days after a similar strike on Hiroshima. As a result of the bombardment of the two cities, about 210 thousand people died, even more suffered from the consequences of the use of nuclear weapons. Japan capitulated 6 days after the second strike – August 15. The discussion on the military necessity of such measures continues to this day.
