Three Russians were killed in Germany as a result of destructive floods in Germany, said Russian Ambassador to Germany in Interviews, Sergey Nechaev.
According to the diplomat, the consequences of flooding in Germany are unprecedented: today the number of flood victims already exceeds 180 people.
“Now we can say that this natural disaster has become one of the largest in the post-war history of Germany,” said Nechaev, adding that, including three Russians who were constantly living in the territory of Germany.
The Russian ambassador expressed deep condolences and words of support to their families, close and friends. He also stated that the Embassy and Russian consular offices continue to track the situation.
Earlier it was reported that the German government will form a package of assistance to flood victims to regions, which will amount to 10 billion euros. Half of the required amount will be highlighted from the federal budget, the second half of the regional budgets.
July 12, strong rains in the western part of Germany led to a large-scale flood. As a result, 180 people were killed, more than 750 were injured (as of July 28). More than a thousand people are missing missing. Roads, bridges, houses and streets were destroyed.
