Moldova should restore the dialogue with Russia in all directions, the President of the Mayan Sanda Republic said, reports Jurnaltv TV channel.
According to her, negotiations should begin quickly. Sanda added that discussion of comprehensive cooperation will be conducted at the level of governments and, possibly, the heads of two states. The politician hopes that countries will be able to discuss all the existing problems of bilateral relations.
“started then (in 2019 – approx.” Renta.ru “) Dialogue will continue. Then the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nika Posseku met with Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov,” said Moldavian leader. She reminded that then negotiations were interrupted because of the political crisis that began in Moldova.
Earlier, Sanda has already expressed their readiness to normalize relations with Russia. In particular, the President announced its intention to continue negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement and the conclusion of Russian bases from the region. She stressed that the normalization of relations will depend only on the desire of both parties.
On November 30, 2020, Sanda called on to bring Russian peacekeeping contingent from Transnistria. In her opinion, a “mild approach” in the conflict settlement negotiations was not effective. She believes that the status of the region after reintegration must be found, but opposed the previously proposed federalization of Moldova.
According to the former president of the Republic of Igor Dodon, Sanda’s words about the need to bring Russian peacekeeping contingent from Transnistria to a serious mistake. He is sure that the anti-Russian policies will adversely affect Moldova and can lead to a new conflict.
Transnistrian Moldavian Republic proclaimed independence in 1990 after an armed conflict with Chisinau. The fighting in the region was completed in 1992 after entering the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which is still there. The question of their conclusion is the main stumbling block in relations between Russia and Moldova.
