Brazil has denied reports of changing the requirements regarding the tests of the Russian Vaccine “Satellite V”. This was reported by the press service of the National Agency for Sanitary Supervision (ANVISA).
The regulator said that he did not establish any additional conditions, except for those that were originally declared by the importer of the vaccine. The Agency explained that when issuing permission to import “Satellite V” 22 requirements were established to eliminate “gaps in informing about the quality and efficiency of the vaccine.”
Anvisa did not specify whether the requirements for the Russian drug are distinguished from the conditions for importing vaccines from other countries. However, the agency’s press service assured that all conditions are established for security reasons.
Previously, the Governor of the Brazilian state of Piaui Wellington Diaz declared the suspension of the agreement for the supply of vaccine “Satellite V” due to the new limitations of the regulator and the lack of import permits. A contract for the supply of vaccine concluded by the Consortium of the Northeastern State of Brazil and the Russian Fund of Direct Investments, provided for the purchase of 37 million doses of the “satellite V”. According to the authorities, Anvisa put forward demands for Russian vaccine, which are different from those that were presented to other foreign drugs.
