US intelligence services received genetic data on viruses that were studied in the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This is reported by CNN with reference to sources.
It is indicated that the TV channel does not have accurate information about when and how American intelligence has gained access to data, but it allows that this happened as a result of hacking servers related to research in the laboratory in Uhana.
According to CNN, now the United States owns data about 22 thousand viruses studied in Wuhan laboratory. However, an array of genetic information requires careful analysis to make it possible to make any specific conclusions. This work is carried out with the help of supercomputers in the laboratories of the US Department of Energy.
It is also noted that the data analysis process is difficult because the accompanying records are made in Chinese, so American special services must find knowledgeable Chinese specialists, and also make sure that they can be trusted. The exact deadlines for completing this work are not yet defined.
Coronavirus leak
On August 2, members of the US Republican Party from the House of Representatives presented evidence of the leakage of coronavirus from the Wuhan laboratory. The text was published by the Senior Republican Committee on Foreign Affairs Michael McColom.
The document has become the third part of the investigation on the origin of the coronavirus. The report was compiled on the basis of data from open sources and indirect evidence. As politicians believe, SARS-COV-2 spread the world as a result of leakage from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
In this regard, the Republicans called on the US authorities to call for China to be responsible. In particular, McCall demanded from Congress to impose sanctions on scientists from the Wuhan Laboratory, as well as representatives of the Chinese Communist Party.
Coronavirus leakage report caused ambiguous reactions. Thus, some of the representatives of the health sector believe that such an investigation is an important step in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, other specialists believe that it is too early to do unequivocal conclusions about the origin of COVID-19.
WHO investigation
In July, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhan Garesus reported on the organization’s plans to check the laboratories, about which were the first cases of COVID-19 infection.
It is about checking the institutions of the uhang, in the area of which the first contaminated SARS-COV-2 were revealed in December 2019. This is one of five steps that the head of WHO is going to take to investigate the origin of coronavirus. In addition, the organization explores people and animals, the animal market in the Uhana, and will also explore the areas where other coronaviruses associated with SARS were discovered. However, the Chinese government negatively responded to WHO plans.
In addition, Beijing declared that he supported the investigation, which would be based on a scientific approach and opposes the politicization of the investigation of the virus.
