Nigeria: militants demanded a redemption for 80 abducted children

In Kaduna in the North-West Nigeria, militants demanded a ransom for 80 children abducted from boarding school last month. This reports Reuters with reference to the chairman of the local branch of the Nigerian Christian Association of Joseph Hayab, who participates in the negotiations on the release of hostages.

Pastor told that the kidnappers want to get one million Nair for each child. Thus, the total amount of the required ransom is about 194 thousand dollars. After receiving the money, the militants promise to free all schoolchildren.

It is noted that earlier criminals have already released 28 hostages. According to Hayab, before that, the three stolen managed to escape, but subsequently they grabbed them again and also demanded a cash reward from their parents.

On July 5, it became known that the group of armed people attacked the Christian boarding school in the Nigerian state of Kadun. The attackers kidnapped 140 students. It is noted that 25 children managed to hide from the attackers. This incident has become a tenth of the abduction of children in order to obtain redemption in the country for 2021.
