Estonia wanted to strengthen the border protection and developed several plans for the influx of illegal migrants to the Baltic countries from the territory of Belarus. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kristian Jan, writes Telegram-channel “Sputnik near abroad.”

He said that if necessary, the Estonian authorities plan to overlap Estonia’s border with Latvia.

such a situation, Yaan called the “most extreme” and stated that such measures will be taken only in the hard case. “We now have the opportunity to prepare in advance – due to the fact that we see the situation on the border of Lithuania and Belarus,” the minister added.

In July, Estonia strengthened the protection at the border with Russia and Latvia due to the influx of migrants. The Estonian border agency stressed that they do not consider the repetition of the Lithuanian-Belarusian scenario possible, but they consider it necessary to protect themselves from migration flows that can go to the north of the Baltic States.
