Spacex gathered a new super heavy sum-stage Super Heavy rocket with 29 Raptor engines, reports ARSTECHNICA.
The publication states that this product received the designation of Booster 4. “This is a massive rocket with a height of about 70 meters and a diameter of 9 meters. Its craving is about twice as much as the Saturn V rocket, which launched NASA astronauts to the moon,” writes Edition.
Assembly was carried out on Spacex cosmodrome in the terrain of Boca Chica (Texas). Currently, Booster 4 is preparing for flight.
ARSTECHNICA reminds that in perspective Super Heavy can get 33 Raptor engines.
According to the publication, Booster 4 can get a second step – Ship 20, prototype with a STARSHIP spacecraft prototype. Assembling Ship 20, as Asstechnica writes, almost completed.
In July, Spacex reported that he built a hundredth engine Raptor.
In February 2019, the head of Spacex Ilon Mask showed the results of testing the Raptor engine, stating that in terms of pressure in the combustion chamber, this power unit surpassed the Russian RD-180 Rocket Engine. The chief designer of the Scientific and Production Association (NGO) “Energomash” Peter Levochkin noted that for methane engines to which Raptor belongs, “this level of pressure in the combustion chamber is not something outstanding.”
In March 2018, Mask stated that Raptor would get the largest traction (the ratio of the driving engine for its weight) among all engines ever operated in the world.
