The protest action began in Minsk due to the death of an illegal migrant, which was found on the border with Lithuania. It is reported by Telegram-channel ONT NEWS.
Belarusians gathered at the building of the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk and chant “do not forget, not forgive!”. Many kept banners in Hands with inscriptions “sorted to Hague” (President Lithuanian Guitanas housing – approx. “Trent.ru”), “Lithuania – the concentration camp of the XXI century”, “destroyed Iraq – take guests.”
Protesters demand to stop the cruel treatment of refugees and rightly punish Lithuanians who, in their opinion, beat one of illegal immigrants to death. Law enforcement officers are on-site, the detentions did not communicate.
On August 4, the staff of the State Border Committee (Code of Civil Procedure) of Belarus reported that in the area of the village of Benasyoni, an illegal migrant was killed on the border with Lithuania. It is specified that the border guards discovered it in extremely serious condition and tried to give him first aid, but the refugee could not be saved. When inspected on the body of the deceased, multiple bruises were found. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took an investigation into the incident under personal control.
Earlier, Lukashenko repeatedly accused the Lithuanian authorities in the abuse of refugees from the countries of the Middle East and Asia. According to him, the conditions for their content resemble the concentration camps of the fascists.
In addition, he stated that the European Union (EU) himself was to blame for the aggravation of the migration crisis. In his opinion, the influx of illegal immigrants is associated both with the military intervention of NATO member countries to Middle Eastern countries and the preferential policy of the EU states regarding refugees.
