“We join the allies in the decisive condemnation of a recent fatal attack on the Mercer Street,” says a statement of a military unit. Also, the North Atlantic Alliance expressed condolences to Great Britain and Romania, whose citizens died in the bombing of the vessel. The organization noted the need to comply with the principles of free shipping, in accordance with international law.

On July 30, the Japanese oil tanker Mercer Street was attacked by one or more drone-kamikaze in the Arabian Sea, not far from the shores of Oman. As a result, two crew members were killed – a citizen of Romania and a submitted United Kingdom. The vessel went under the flag of Liberia and was managed by the Israeli operator Zodiac GROUP. Romania, USA, United Kingdom and Israel 1 and 2 August accused Iran in a deadly attack and reported the development of a “proper answer” to aggression.
On August 2, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that without providing evidence of the charges of Western countries towards Iran, the grounds will be deprived. Also in the department stressed that Moscow has not yet developed its position on the incident due to the lack of facts confirming any responsibility.
