Foreign Ministry of Russia predicted painful peace negotiations in Afghanistan

Negotiations between the Government of Afghanistan and the Movie “Taliban” (prohibited in Russia) on a peaceful settlement in the country will be painfully. This was announced by the Special Representative of the Russian President in Afghanistan, Director of the Second Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zamir Kabulov, reports RIA Novosti.

Diplomat said that it is necessary to be “realists”, making forecasts on the Afghan conflict. “Real diplomacy is not based on emotions, it is based on the interests and opportunities,” Kabulov added.

According to him, Russia “pragmatically” approached the negotiation process with the Taliban. Kabulov noted that Moscow “eloquently, with all its power, but also delicately” demonstrates the militants the need to fulfill their obligations. He reminded that the radicals should know “the price of the violated word.”

On August 2, TASS reported large-scale battles between the Afghan army and the Taliban in the provinces of Nangarhar, Pakty, the Pact, Logar, Kandahar, Herat, Fallhab, Jauzhang, Balk, Samangan, Gilmend, Taghar, Kunduz, Baglan and Kapsa. The most fierce confrontation was broken for herat, the third in size of the city of Afghanistan, where the Taliban took the central quarters. The Afghan government transferred several hundred fighters of special forces to the city and launched a counteroffensive under Gerat.

Against the background of exacerbation in Afghanistan, Russia, as a member of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO), participated in the large-scale military exercises “Border-2021” in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The teachings will take place for several months. The main venue for the Uzbek and Tajik polygons on the border with Afghanistan were appointed.
