Russian impact unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) “Orion” in the fall will perform the first test launches of anti-tank managed missiles (Ptti) “whirlwind”, RIA Novosti reports, referring to a source in the defense and industrial complex.
“Works are currently being carried out on the integration of the modernized anti-tank missiles of the Vortex-M complex. In the fall, the first firing” vortices “from the drone along land targets, imitating opponent armored vehicles, will be held in the military ground,” said the interlocutor Agencies.
According to him, the use of Ptthi in the composition of the UAV “will significantly increase the ability of the apparatus for the destruction of heavily convened equipment on the battlefield, including the most modern and protected tanks.” The source added that the likelihood of the “swirl” moving exceeds 80 percent.
According to the interlocutor, one UAV will be able to transfer two ptthi, located in containers on underlined pylons.
In May, the Russian concern “Kalashnikov” published in Vkontakte video tests of secret weapons. Later, RIA Novosti reported that we are talking about the modified aviation controlled missile “whirlwind”.
