On ISS, details of adaptation of “Science” module to station

On Friday, July 30, the MCS disclosed the details of the adaptation of the “Science” module to the station. There was an operation to bring the fuel system of the joined module to a safe state. This was done by vacuuming its fuel highways. For this, astronauts have closed the hatches to the port of the American segment of the station. Despite the proposal to wait for the process from neighbors, Russian astronauts remained at their half of the ISS.

During negotiations with the land, the specialist of the flight management center in the suburbs told the cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky about the finish of the removal of extra fuel from the Module “Science”.

On Friday, the general director of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, spoke about the opening of the hatches of Russian “Science.”

Multipurpose laboratory module dashed to the ISS on Thursday, July 29. After three hours, due to a failure in the program in “Science” engines earned. As a result, the ISS has deployed 45 degrees. There was no threat to residents of the station. It was possible to return it to the previous place due to the engines of the “Star” module and the “Progress MS-17” cargo ship.

“Science” was built on the basis of the Khrunichev center from the mid-1990s. Send to space a 20-ton module was calculated in 2007, but the deadlines were repeatedly transferred.
