Lukashenko promised to “sit and walk” for each article of Constitution

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko remained dissatisfied with the draft constitution presented for discussion and returned it to refine in the Constitutional Commission. This is reported by “Sputnik Belarus.”

According to politics, he has already managed to familiarize himself with the amendments to the basic law, but the result of the work of specialists did not satisfy him. “Today I returned all this writing to you. Going away and try it before reading at the president’s level to bring in accordance,” said Lukashenko.

The head of state did not explain what particular positions of the project caused his discontent, but at the same time promised to “sit down and walk” for each article of the document again. “And then I will bring on a nationary discussion, let people get acquainted,” he concluded.

For the first time, Lukashenko declared the need to make changes to the Constitution against the background of protests that engulfed Belarus after the presidential election on August 9, 2020. In March, he convened a special constitutional commission from 36 people and stated that it would deal with civil initiatives to a new project.
