Lukashenko commented on Biden’s meeting with Tikhanovskaya

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko commented on the meeting of the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya with US President Joe Biden. He spoke about this at a meeting with officials on the issues of socio-political situation, reported on the official website of the head of the republic.

Lukashenko stressed that since last year, “attempts to discredit Belarus in the international arena do not stop. “We are seeing a series of senseless demonstrative demarches, especially around the perimeter of borders,” he added.

The president also told about the support of the “runaway” Belarusian oppositionists of the West countries. According to him, she led only to “endless tour” hoping for the rescue of opposition politicians. Here Lukashenko remembered the visit of Tikhanovskaya to Bideno and noted that the American president treated her “some kind of cookie.”

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya arrived in the US on July 18. In addition to the American president, she also talked to the Secretary of State of the United States Anthony Blinken, the adviser by Bayden on National Security Jake Sullivan and the US ambassador to Belarus Julie Fisher. The opposition reported that the American authorities had not yet given a clear answer to the question of new sanctions against Minsk, and also told about cookies that Joe Biden offered her.
