Birthday of hero of Russia, cosmonaut pilot-cosmonaut Vladimir Dezhurov

Before enrolling in the Cospham Space Detachment, Vladimir Dezhurov mastered the latched profession. Since 1984, he served as a pilot, then a senior pilot in a fighter aviation regiment. Dezhurov mastered three types of aircraft, performed 170 parachute jumps.

For the first time, the cosmonaut went to orbit on March 14, 1995 as the commander of the orbital complex (OK) “Peace” on a spacecraft (QC) “Union TM-21” together with G.M. Strekalov and N. Tagardom (USA). During the flight, Vladimir Dezhurov three times went into open space and worked twice in a depressurized transitional compartment of the World Complex. The astronauts returned to Earth on July 7, 1995 at the Atlantis Sts-21 Shuttle. In space, the Russian-American crew spent 115 days.

Vladimir Nikolayevich’s second space flight made from August 10 to December 17, 2001 on Shuttle as a pilot of the ISS with M. Turin and F. Kalbertson (USA). In space, he worked with the Russian cosmonaut Y. Usachev and American astronauts D. VSSS and S. Helms. During the flight V.N. Dezhurov completed four outlets into open space. The duration of flight was 128 days.
