The newest tanks for which the UK spent about five billion dollars, turned out to be practically useless and dangerous for the crew. It is reported by the Daily Telegraph newspaper with reference to the government report that came to her disposal.
The document states that the AJAX family of armored vehicles caused the health of the crew members. After riding them, the military complained about the swelling of the joints and the feeling of constant noise in the ears. Therefore, from November 2020 to March 2021, the tanks were not used. In addition, the command had to introduce restrictions for safe operation of AJAX. So, the maximum speed of movement was reduced half, up to 20 miles per hour, and the crew decided to replace every one and a half hours.
According to the publication, for the needs of the army, almost 600 such tanks purchased. What to do with them, have not yet decided. The impossibility of using machines is caused by their structural defects expressing in excessive vibration. It does not allow shooting while driving.
In August 2020, the UK Ministry of Defense announced its intention to modernize the Armed Forces. According to one of the programs, the country can completely abandon tanks.
