According to him, it is the presence of children is the main sign of poverty. It concerns 82 percent of citizens falling into this category.
In May, President Vladimir Putin promised to increase the income of Russians. He stressed that this is a priority task for all levels of government. One of the measures that will contribute to the solution of the problem, the head of state called the increase in the number of working citizens by 700 thousand.
As shown by the study of the Finexpertiza auditing and consulting network, in 2020 a quarter of Russians (36 million people) had an income below 60 percent of the median. According to the international methodology, people with such income have a real chance to face poverty. There are twice as many of them in Russia than those officially considered poor, that is, has an income below the subsistence minimum.
