Foreign Ministry of Russia provided new information about the problems with the project of the Russian military base in Africa. According to Mikhail Bogdanov’s deputy head of Mikhail Bogdanov, Sudan has not yet decided to revise the agreement in which the base should be built, RIA Novosti reports.
Bogdanov explained to the agency staff that the Sudanese did not cancel the decision on the basis of Russian Navy, since it was not finally adopted: the agreement was not thought out and approved on both sides, and negotiations continue.
On the question of whether Russia is contacted with Sudan on this topic, the diplomat responded in the affirmative. “Of course, we had a visit to the Deputy Minister of Defense in Khartoum. The process goes … if something (the Sudanese side does not suit), not everything, then there is still contacts,” RIA his words leads.
On June 1, Sudan announced the desire to revise the agreement on the creation of the Russian military base on the Red Sea. Head of the Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces Muhammad Usman Al-Hussein recalled that the agreement was signed between the former Government of Sudan and Russia. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will deal with this situation.
