On highway from Moscow until St. Petersburg will launch drones

Russian authorities called the launch of the drone on the track from Moscow to St. Petersburg. This was announced at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Deputy Minister of Transport Kirill Bogdanov, RBC reports. According to him, this will happen already in 2024.

First, the drones will not travel to the cities themselves: for them they are preparing to build special hubs on the M-11 highway. At the same time, equipping the roads with the necessary infrastructure will cost up to six million rubles per kilometer.

According to the calculations of the Ministry of Transport, the use of unmanned trucks will allow for 2030 to increase by 25 percent commercial speed (from 60 to 75 kilometers per hour) delivery of goods within one day and reduce the cost of transportation for logistics companies.

“The use of drones on the M-11 highway may per hour to reduce the delivery time between St. Petersburg and Moscow due to the lack of stops on the rest of the drivers in labor and recreation regime,” leads the TASS words of the general director of GC “Business Lines” Farid Madani. Also, according to him, the autopilot completely eliminates the human factor that increases safety.
