US Ministry of Finance introduced sanctions against citizens from Bulgaria due to corruption

The Ministry of Finance US imposed sanctions against the three citizens of Bulgaria and 64 organizations due to corruption. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Office of Control over Foreign Asets of the US Department of Finance.

Restrictions affected the businessman Vasila Bozkova, the former deputy of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) from the party “Movement for Rights and Freedom” Delian Peevski and a member of the National Bureau for Control for Special Intelligence Facilities Ilco Zablukov. In addition, the sanctions introduced in relation to the basketball club CSKA (Sofia).

“The US government will continue to introduce measures to ensure serious consequences for those involved in corruption, and will continue to defend the global financial system,” explained in the text.

Earlier in May, during NATO exercises in Bulgaria, there was a scandal with the participation of the American military. The soldiers armed with automata and machine guns took the storm shop for the manufacture of equipment for treating olive oil in the village of Plovdiv. As it turned out, the plant is located next to the military airfield on which the exercises took place. The owners of the workshop perceived the incident as a humiliation and appealed to the court.

April 15 US President Joe Biden signed a decree on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia. Restrictions affected more than 30 individuals and legal entities. Among the grounds for their introduction, allegedly hostile activity of Russia in the cybersfer, interference in the US elections or other foreign countries. As part of the US sanctions package, 10 Russian diplomats from Washington are sent.
