Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov In an interview with Izvestia, the abnormally high growth of the economy for the results of May was predicted.
“It is quite natural that they [GDP data for May 2021] will be abnormally high, because we are at the heart of May last year, when the restrictions were still quite rigid,” the reshetnikov noted.
According to him, the statistical indicators of GDP growth is more correct to compare with the data of 2019, which did not affect the coronavirus pandemic. “The economy is restored better expectations, shows its stability,” said the minister.
Also, the reshetnikov stressed that the positive trend must be supported by “systemic changes and new investment projects.” The main risk zone for the Russian economy, he called the state of the global economy, which has recently been susceptible to fluctuations.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, in April, the growth of Russian GDP amounted to 10.7 percent in annual terms. At the end of the year, the Office predicts an increase of 2.9 percent.
