Trade unions asked Putin to deal with indexation of pensions

Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR) Mikhail Shmakov sent a letter to President Vladimir Putin with a request to deal with the indexation of pensions to working retirees. This is reported on the website of the All-Russian Union.

The organization expressed concern that the corresponding order of the head of state was still not implemented. In particular, trade unions indicated that the government did not approve none of the proposed bills and did not make his own option on this issue.

“The prolonged pause restrains the solution to the issue of changing the material situation of many thousands of retirees,” warns FNPR.

In April, the Federation of Trade Unions proposed to slow down the increase in the retirement age up to three months in one calendar year. The organization also called on to index pensions to working retirees and raise the minimum wage of up to 41 thousand rubles. “It is precisely to him to strive not only in order to reduce poverty, but also to ensure economic growth,” said the head of the FNPR Mikhail Shmakov.

Pensions working retirees ceased to raise back in 2016. The reason for this was called the economy of the budget of the Pension Fund. In December 2020, President Vladimir Putin stated that it was necessary to find money for the indexation. The head of state noted that the authorities think how to solve the issue.

On April 5, the Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that no decisions about indexing pensions to working retirees had not yet been accepted. At the same time, according to him, “the relevant proposals are already formulated.”
