The French Antomonopoly Regulator has achieved an unprecedented agreement from Google, according to which the company is obliged to make changes to the work of its online advertising services, writes Reuters.
Google fined 220 million euros for abused its market position. The American company, as installed the regulator, was used by the fact that the owners of advertising sites are almost forced to use it tools.
“The decision on Google measures is of particular importance: for the first time in world practice, it focuses on complex, built on algorithms, the processes of auctions that provide online advertising work,” said the head of the French regulator Isabelle de Silva.
She also clarified that as a result of the agreement, the amount of the fine was reduced, but did not call specific numbers. In Google, she said, do not intend to challenge the decisions of the antimonopoly department.
The regulator has studied the work of Google tools that allow you to sell to customize advertisements on the Internet. In the course of the investigation, it turned out that the Google Ad Manager platform created advantages for their own ADX online advertising marketer, where owners of real-time sites sell advertising places. Google AD Manager passed the ADX strategic data, and ADX in turn helped Google AD Manager to gain advantages at the technological level. As a result, Google’s agreement undertakes to make changes to the work of its tools.
In May, the American company was also distorted that she continued to collect data on the location of their users even when the owners of the smartphones turned off the appropriate option. This is evidenced by the investigation data, which began in 2020 at the initiative of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Arizona.
