World business will soon be encountered with a new threat in the field of cybersecurity – quantum computers, writes CNBC with reference to the British company ARQIT. The organization specializes in data protection issues and worked, including the Government of Great Britain and the European Space Agency.
Quantum technologies can be a new serious problem for both enterprises and authorities of different countries. This is still a fairly new direction of research, however, according to Google and Microsoft, the practical implementation of developments can be expected in the next decade. The head of Arqit David Williams explained that quantum computers will work several million times faster than normal and will be able to cope with the most common communication protection methods.
The encryption technologies that are used now have been developed in the 1970s, in conditions where the data exchange went between two computers, the Arquit head told. “They were not invented for the world, in which billions of devices are connected with each other with a complex circle of interactions,” explained Williams.
In the US Department, the US Department is already going to make changes to the cryptography standards, taking into account possible attacks using quantum computers. The founder of the cybersecurity of the startup PQShield Ali Caafrani said CNBC that the decision on these standards can be taken by the end of the year. Business, in his opinion, will not be easy to cope with the new requirements. “The past teach us that the transition from one algorithm to another goes slowly and takes years and decades,” said Caificar.
Business Cyber security question for the last month updated attacks immediately into several world companies. On May 30, the attack was subjected to the world’s largest manufacturer of JBS meat, which was stopped by the work of scotch in the United States and other countries. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was responsible for the attack on Revil and SodinokiBi services.
May 8 On the attack on his systems, the largest operator of COLONIAL PIPELINE fuel pipelines was told. The company faced serious problems with fuel supplies, against which the record level reached the retail price for gasoline – on average by 7 percent. To avoid full stopping of the pipeline, Colonial Pipeline had to pay 4.4 million dollars hackers.
