Rogozin stated maximum service life of ISS

Roskosmos general director Dmitry Rogozin in an interview with TASS called the highest possible service life of the International Space Station (ISS).

“Well, a maximum of 2030, I do not think that we will exploit longer,” said the head.

According to the head of state corporation, there are several reasons why the further work of the orbital laboratory loses its meaning. Among them are the absence of new tasks for research in orbit with an inclination of 51 degrees and the problems of aging construction of the station.

According to Rogozin, instead of maintaining the ISS, it is better to work in the development of the national station. “Contain the Russian service station at this orbit is about the same money that we pay for the content of the Russian segment on the ISS,” said the manager.

The general director said that “some two or three years they will still exist in parallel.”

In April, Rogozin stated that the state corporation after the release from the ISS project allows NASA’s transmission of the Russian segment of the orbital laboratory. According to the manager, the Russian segment of the station is worn by 80 percent, and its maintenance “will require about the same funds that they will be needed from 2025 to deploy a separate national Russian orbital station.”
