Russia will build nuclear reactors in Iraq

Russia will build nuclear reactors in Iraq. We are talking about eight blocks that will be ready for 2030. About this RIA Novosti told the head of Iraqi management to regulate radioactive sources Kamal Latife.

Nuclear reactors will have to provide electricity in Iraq. The construction will be engaged in Russian state corporation on atomic energy “Rosatom”.

“This is not just the desire of Iraq, but the real necessity, which will provide 25 percent of the entire amount of energy in which the country needs,” Latif explained. He added that Baghdad would like to “get” all 8 reactors for 2030, but it is not fundamentally.

June 8 Russia began construction of a power unit with a reactor installation on fast neutron BREST-300. Relevant work is carried out by Rosatom in Seversk (Tomsk Region) in the framework of the Strategic Sectoral Project “Breakthrough”.
