By the end of the year, the Russian state-owned company “Avtodor” should choose the direction in which the route M-12 Kazan – Ekaterinburg. Options are only two – to Omsk or to Krasnodar. The head of “Avtodor” Vyacheslav Petheshenko told about plans for the development of the megaproject, RIA Novosti reports.
He called the key task began a new construction in 2023. At the same time, Petushenko clarified that the need for the road in the eastern direction is obvious. However, the route towards the Black Sea will allow a quarter to reduce the time on the way to it from the Urals.
According to the head of the “Avtodora”, with the current road network, it will take more than 400 kilometers on this path than it could be. Fully road takes more than 40 hours.
The track to Yekaterinburg should run by 2024. Previously, Petushko noted that the project could pay off for ten years. About 150 billion on construction will be taken from the National Welfare Fund (FNB), and in general the road is estimated at 639 billion rubles.

More than half of the new 800-kilometer route is supposed to be done free, the money will be charged for bypassing Nizhnekamsk and on the road from Dyurtuli to Achita.
