Investigative Committee (SC) of Belarus sent the Creator of the Telegram Messenger Pavel Durov’s appeal to decide on the closure of channels in it recognized by destructive in the country. This is reported by “Sputnik Belarus.”
As reported by the publication in the department, the Terms of Use of Telegram suggest bans on public calls to violence, and “Rules apply to all violators, regardless of their political views.” The authorities also indicated that earlier the management of the messenger had already applied similar measures against the channels and groups, whose owners lived in Russia, and found it sufficient to block resources.
“For the purpose of psychological and other pressure on the representatives of the law enforcement block and state bodies in the Telegram messenger, a number of channels were created, where their personal data was published, as well as calls for the commission of violent acts regarding the security forces, their children and close relatives,” – explained in the SC. Durov himself has not reacted to the law enforcement letter.
Previously, Belarusian security forces arrested the assistant assistant to the prosecutor Evgenia Babak. They broke the door to the apartment of the former law enforcement and staged the pogrom in the apartment. The man received 15 days under the article on the organization of unauthorized rallies.
In Belarus, mass protests continued for more than six months after the presidential election on August 9, 2020. The reason for them was charged with falsifications when conducting voting.
