Following the first quarter of 2021, MTS has shown the highest average fixed access rates on both downloads and outgoing data transmission – 71.97 megabits per second and 79.13 megabits per second, respectively. Such data are given in the study of the international Agency Ookla, which specializes in testing the quality of Internet access.
In second place was the provider “Dom.ru”, whose median loading speed was 66.52 megabits per second, and the outgoing transmission – 73.70 megabita per second. The third place was taken by Beeline with an average loading speed of 57.29 megabits per second and outgoing 65.18 megabita per second.
in the stability of the Internet connection (the percentage of the minimum load speed of 25 megabits per second and the minimum outgoing transmission rate of 3 megabits per second) at MTS the highest indicator in Moscow (82.9 percent) and Novosibirsk (81.5 percent), “Dom.ru” – in Samara (80.5 percent) and Yekaterinburg (80.8 percent), in Intersvyaz – in Chelyabinsk (79 percent).
In the first quarter of 2021, out of ten largest cities of Russia, the highest median download speed -70.65 megabita per second – was in Moscow. The results of Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk were different from the average load speed of 61.06 megabit per second, 60.83 megabit per second and 60.81 megabita per second, respectively. The median download speed in Nizhny Novgorod was 58.80 megabita per second, in Chelyabinsk – 58.37 megabits per second.
In general, according to the results of the Ookla study, the speed of a fixed Internet in Russia is growing: in 2020, the download speed increased by 36.9 percent. As of April 2021, the country occupies 51th place in the speed of fixed broadband access, noted in the agency.
