Today, June 15, 2021, it turns 15 years from the date of launch of the spacecraft of the Earth “Resource-DC”, developed by SNPRCC “TSSKB-Progress” (now – the Rocket and Space Center The composition of the state corporation “Roskosmos”).
Satellite “Resource-DK” worked in orbit without a small 10 years. During this time, he filmed more than 80 million square kilometers of the earth’s surface, of which – 34 million square kilometers of the territory of the Russian Federation. He more than 2 times exceeded the stated actively existence. Its operation was discontinued in February 2016. To avoid unmanaged descent, the satellite translated into orbit, where it will be about 50 years in the so-called cosmic burial.
Space complex “Resource-DK” was developed and manufactured by TSSKB progress together with partner enterprises – leading domestic enterprises: Russian space systems, research institute of accurate devices (including Roscosmos State Corporation), Krasnogorsk plant name S.A. Zvereva “, NGO” Elak “and others. The operating organization that carries out the direct target use of the spacecraft, was an academic center for the operational monitoring of the Earth (enters Roscosmos).
Resource-DK satellite led the survey of the area with a resolution of up to 1 m in the panchromatic range and up to 2-3 m in three narrow spectral ranges. With “Resource-DK”, experts received pictures with the specified resolution with the width of the grip of the earth’s surface to 28 km and the length of 16 to 2100 km. He could shoot the territory simultaneously in three spectral ranges. Due to the synthesis of the image of three narrow spectral ranges for the first time in Russia, color images with a high spatial resolution were obtained.
Throughout the term of active satellite existence, detailed information about the earth’s surface was used to solve a wide range of socio-economic tasks of Russian departments and organizations, as well as in the interests of commercial consumers. Along with the planned shooting of the earth’s surface, operational tasks were solved, including determining the scale of destruction in natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, river spills and fires. The Russian scientific instrument “Arina” and the Italian-Russian scientific instrument “Pamela” successfully worked on board the satellite, intended for the study of the nuclear and electron-positron composition of primary cosmic rays.
On the Board of the Russian Academy of Sciences In September 2016, the results of the work of scientific equipment “Arina” and the scientist community highly appreciated the joint work with the Rocket and Space Center “Progress” in terms of exploitation on board the resource-dc “satellite of the Scientific Equipment. As a result of the experiments, world-class scientific data was obtained. Many design solutions of specialists of the RCC “Progress”, spent during the operation of the “Resource-DC”, are later implemented in other developments of the Samara Rocket and Space Center.
