He noted that the North Atlantic Alliance does not intend to begin a cold war with the Chinese side, however, the leaders of the organization member countries will respond to the main challenges of international security from China.
Earlier, Stolterberg reported the strengthening of military potential by Russia, which forces the alliance to take response and strengthen defense. According to him, the alliance will increase its military potential and use a “wide combination of various tools” to counter Russian aggression, but not to “reflect what Moscow does.” The NATO Secretary General concluded that anti-Russian sanctions should be extended.
