Nuclear powers, despite the overall reduction in the number of nuclear warheads, in 2020 they launched more than the units of such weapons as part of the operational forces. This is stated in the report of the Stockholm International Institute for the Research of Peace Problems (SIPRI), reports TASS.
Analysts calculated that at the beginning of 2021, nine nuclear countries – Russia, United States, United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea – had 13,080 nuclear weapons, while at the beginning of 2020 their arsenal There are 13,400 units. However, as part of their operational parts from 2020 to 2021, the amount of warheads increased from 3,720 to 3,825 units.
Russia and the United States for the year added to its operational deployment of about 50 warheads. At the same time, Russia increased its nuclear arsenal approximately 180 warheads due to intercontinental ballistic missiles with separating warheads, as well as ballistic launch missiles.
