NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg refused to disclose these intelligence, proving the possible involvement of Russia to the incident with the Ryanair aircraft, forcibly serving at the airport of Minsk on May 23, reports TASS with reference to an interview with the British radio station Times Radio.
“I can’t go into details about the reconnaissance data, however, we know that Belarus and Russia cooperate very closely in almost all areas, including the defense of airspace,” said Stoltenberg.
He also noted that Russia one of the few did not condemn the actions of the Belarusian leadership after the forced landing of the Ryanair aircraft at Minsk airport.
According to the head of NATO, the relationship between the Alliance and Russia is now in the “lowest point since the end of the Cold War.”
On May 23, the airline of the Irish airline Ryanair, who followed Athens to Vilnius, made a forced landing at Minsk airport after a message about the allegedly located on board the explosion device.
After the landing by the Belarusian authorities, the founder of the opposition telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich was detained on board. EU countries regarded the incident as an episode of air piracy and banned Belarusian airlines to fly over the EU territory, and European over the territory of Belarus.
