German environmental associations challenged preliminary permission from the conservation body of Brandenburg for the construction of the Tesla gigabric in the vicinity of Berlin, reports Reuters with reference to the Eco Group’s lawyer.
In the official objection, it is reported that the subordinates of Ilona Mask insufficiently clarified exactly how the company will prevent leakage from the future plant of highly gases.
In addition, Tesla has changed documents with statements about the production of batteries, for which it has not yet received the necessary permissions.
Environmentalists from the “Green League” and “Union of Nature and Biodiversity” (NABU) promised to apply to court if the authorities do not declare the suspension of preliminary permit by June 16.
Tesla began preparations for the construction of the plant in Germany on February 13, 2020 and planned to launch production in July 2021. However, the electric car company could not get permits for construction, including local ecologists. In December 2020, Brandenburg’s authorities approved the deforestation of 83 hectares of the forest for the construction of warehouses and laying the sewer communications of the plant. Green opposed, but could not prove the rightness in court.
