Former US Secretary of State and Ex-Candidate for US President Hillary Clinton in an interview with MSNBC commented on the meeting of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin with American counterpart Joe Biden.
Clinton believes that Biden called Putin to direct conversation about the future interaction. She paid attention to how fast two leaders shook hands and went into the room, as well as in the absence of a joint press conference. In her opinion, it was a “strong diplomatic signal” about the direct and open dialog.
She recalled the 45-minute delay in Putin to negotiations with the former US President Barack Obama on the fields of the Grand Twenty Summit in Mexico. According to Clinton, the Russian leader “deliberately tried to take possession of the situation.” At the same time, she stressed that this time Putin had no such opportunity.
Also Clinton warned that even agreement on the outcome of the negotiations does not necessarily mean real achievements in bilateral relations. She pointed to the “constant complexity” in the dialogue with Putin. “Even when you negotiate something that, as you believe, meets the interests of the United States, it will continue to undermine and literally try to make our life more difficult,” Hillary Clinton explained.
The meeting of the Russian and American presidents was held on June 16 in Geneva at Ville La Grunge. The leaders communicated for three and a half hours. After that, they made a joint statement, which states that in the nuclear war there can be no winners and it should never be untied. It is noted that in order to prevent this in the future, Russia and the United States will launch bilateral dialogue in strategic stability.
