Russian specialists continue to find out the reason for the formation of cracks in the “Star” module at the International Space Station (ISS), but the version of the metal fatigue was excluded, the adviser to the Director General of Roskosmos, Sergey Krikalev in conversation with RIA Novosti.
“That is, they are [experts] can not say, because of what the cracks were formed), but they may say, [that] not because of fatigue,” he said.
Cricalev added that, according to experts, the case in which cracks were detected, spent their resource by 40-50 percent.
According to the adviser to the Director General of Roskosmos, the reasons for the appearance of cracks may be several dozen. As an example, Krikalov called micrometeoritis, electrochemical corrosion of metal, defective metal, mechanical damage to the body from the inside, violation of welding technology.
