in New York decided to hold a social experiment, during which a group of 40 homeless young people between the ages of 18 and 24 will pay a monthly $ 1250 simply. This is reported by TV channel Fox News.
In this way, the authorities want to find out whether subsidies will increase the chances of homeless on finding work and a permanent house. It is noted that monthly amounts may increase if the recipients gather to rent housing. At the same time, what participants in the experiment will spend funds, is in no way regulated.
In addition, when issuing benefits, preference will be given to representatives of national and sexual minorities. The successes of Americans who fell into the program will be equal with the results of those who receive smaller payments or do not receive them at all.
2.5 million dollars will be allocated for the implementation of the program. Some of them will be directed from the budget of New York. The mayor of Bill de Blazio expressed the hope that it would help in the fight against “youth care.”
In March, the House of Representatives of the US Congress adopted a package of stimulating victims of the pandemic of the American economy of 1.9 trillion dollars. Most of the money was allocated for payments to the population. So, in addition to the unemployment benefit, which is paid by the States, a federal surcharge will appear (300 dollars a week) until August.
