Deputy Foreign Ministry of Russia Sergey Ryabkov said that the important result of the Summit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American colleague Joe Bayiden was confirmed by the inadmissibility of the nuclear war. He told about it in an interview with the “Kommersant”.
According to him, in recent years, in Moscow experienced concerns about Washington’s readiness to adhere to the only possible and sound, if we talk about the responsible attitude to the fate of the world, the position, which is that in the nuclear war there can be no winners and she Cannot be untied. At the same time, the Ryabkov stressed that in this case it is not a figure of speech or sublime words, but the actual state of affairs.
The Russian diplomat also explained that when Moscow and Washington returned to a direct, concrete and understandable interaction formula in this field, then experienced a feeling of “internal confidence.” He added that now both countries have a reference point. In a large political sense and in a purely practical plan – this is an important result of the summit, he summarized.
Earlier it was reported that after bilateral negotiations in Geneva, the leaders of the two countries made a joint statement, which states that in the nuclear war there can be no winners and it should never be unleashed. It is noted that in order to prevent this in the future, Russia and the United States will launch bilateral dialogue in strategic stability.
The meeting of the Russian and American presidents was held on June 16 in Geneva at Ville La Grunge. Leaders communicated for three and a half hours.
