Ambassador of Russia in the USA Anatoly Antonov announced the building of pragmatic and equal relations with “American friends” and noted the need to start a series of consultations on various issues. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“Today it all depends on the political will of the United States – whether they are ready to realize those positive words that were told by the two presidents in Geneva,” the high-ranking diplomat stressed. According to him, currently we are talking about building the security equation between Moscow and Washington, so that two states can support strategic stability and “feel comfortable.”
Antonov added that the US sanctions against Russia will not lead to a positive result, they will not affect either external or internal policies of the country. The ambassador reminded that in recent years, when the United States introduced numerous limitations, it became clear that “we can safely live, work.” He also noted the need to solve the problem taken by Russian diplomatic property captured in the United States and stressed that Moscow will insist on the right of use of certain objects belonging to it.
Previously, Antonov said that Moscow sent a number of proposals for meetings and dialogue to the American authorities. Proposals in particular are aimed at stabilizing Russian-American relations, which will allow “in the future to talk about improving these bilateral ties.”
The Russian Ambassador to the United States arrived in Washington on June 21 after several months of stay in Moscow against the background of deterioration of relations between countries. He stressed that he had a lot of work, however, he noted that he was hoping to move in building equal pragmatic relations with the American side.
