This was confirmed by the director of the National Institute of Cancer and the Center for Diagnostics and the Treatment of Oncological Diseases of Nada Otman. She believes that this is one way or another will lead to a “cancer catastrophe”.
Sudan Health Minister Omar An-Nadzhib explained that the lack of doses was caused by the lack of funding and problems with foreign currency. In addition, the country has debt to importers. As Sky News Arabia notes, prices for some drugs grew by a thousand percent due to a sharp drop in the cost of the Sudanese pound.
According to official data, the two cities of children acting in the country for cancer patients takes from 500 to 600 patients per week. At the same time, hospitals lack staff: many work overtime, the conditions of detention in clinics are extremely unfavorable.
