Almost half of German companies (47 percent), working in Russia, wanted to invest in the country in the next 12 months. This is stated in the study of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber (VTP).
The total volume of planned investments will be 840 million euros. “Taking into account the fact that in Russia there are a total of 3971 German companies, the total planned investment can reach several billion euros,” is noted in the study.
First of all, German business plans to invest money in projects in Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg. Next comes the Kaluga region, Krasnodar Territory, Sverdlovsk and Lipetsk region. The majority of respondents (54 percent) of German companies believe that in the second half of the year the economic situation in Russia will improve.
about 68 percent think that the Russian economy in the second half of the year will demonstrate a positive or slightly positive dynamics. Another 21 percent expect stagnation, 12 are confident that changes will be negative or rather negative. In addition, 51 percent of German companies in Russia are planning to increase their employees in the near future.
According to the German Bundesbank, the net volume of direct investment from Germany to Russia for the first quarter of 2021 amounted to about 1.1 billion euros.
Earlier it was reported that Russia ranked 11th among the most attractive foreign investment countries in Europe. In 2020, foreign investors participated in 141 projects in Russia. Most of all invested in Russia Germany, half of the European investment was sent to the agri-food sector.
